A Welcome Message from Interim Dean Jeffrey Kallberg
Kallberg, who began his tenure as Interim Dean on January 1, reflects on the “impressive” way the School closed out 2024 and looks ahead to what comes next.
As we begin to immerse ourselves in the new semester, I want to extend a warm welcome back to campus. We ended 2024 on quite an impressive note, including a wonderful celebration of the opening of the Vagelos Laboratory for Energy Science and Technology and the exciting news of a generous $42 million gift from the estate of William J. Levy to support scholarship for students in the College.
In the coming months, following Dean Fluharty’s departure, I am excited to maintain our momentum across the School, driven by the work of our talented faculty and dedicated staff, and the enthusiasm of our outstanding students.
I look forward to events like Penn Grad Talks in February, showcasing the innovative research of our graduate students, and this year’s Dean’s Forum in April (more details on that will be shared soon). I am particularly eager to collaborate with many of you on our shared goals for the School. I am deeply grateful for the energy and commitment of the entire Penn Arts & Sciences community and wish you all a fulfilling and productive semester.
