Ralph M. Rosen is Vartan Gregorian Professor of the Humanities in the Department of Classical Studies, and has received the Ira Abrams Award for Distinguished Teaching, the highest teaching honor of Penn Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on Greek literature and intellectual history, ancient comic and satirical poetic genres, and ancient medicine. He is the author of Making Mockery: The Poetics of Ancient Satire and Old Comedy and the Iambographic Tradition. He has also edited and co-edited 14 books, including Hip Sublime: Beat Writers and the Classical Tradition and Ancient Concepts of the Hippocratic.
