If the title of the panel seems urgent, it’s because for many students, choosing a college major is of the utmost importance. In the Youre Majoring in What?!?! event held during Family Weekend, Raquel Cabo, C’04, remembers, “It was actually a quite stressful decision to pick a major. I felt, ‘oh my gosh, this is going to define the rest of my life.’”

Cabo and fellow College alums, Jared Grusd, C'96; Dan Jee, C’08; and Allie Nava, C’94, came together to share stories of choosing their majors and to discuss how a liberal arts education provides students with the skills and experiences to test new ideas and consider an array of careers. The event was moderated by Claire Klieger, Senior Associate Director of Career Services.

Paul Sniegowksi, Stephen A. Levin Family Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, knows the value of a good career pivot. He opened the event with his own story, which includes a major in violin performance and a stint as a freelance musician before pursuing a doctorate in biology.
