The European debt crisis has been out of the news lately. “Europe shuts down in August,” explains Professor of Economics Jesús Fernández-Villaverde, a native of Spain and Research Associate for the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and Penn's Population Studies Center. A rush of action is coming in September, adds German native Dirk Krueger, Professor of Economics and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and Penn's Population Studies Center.  They share their perspectives on what happens now.

What will the European Union be facing in September?

How is this crisis playing politically in Europe?

Do people accept the need for reform?

Are attitudes toward the European Union changing?

We hear about the problems – what are the benefits of the EU?

What do you think will happen?

How will the Euro crisis continue to affect the U.S. and the rest of the world?
